Azerbaijan will never allow its territory or airspace to be used for conducting strikes against Iran, Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said during a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi.
"On January 29, Jeyhun Bayramov and Abbas Araghchi held talks over the phone. It was specifically emphasized that the Republic of Azerbaijan will never allow its airspace or territory to be used by any state to conduct military operations against Iran or any other country," the press service of the Azerbaijani foreign ministry reported.
Bayramov stressed that Baku’s position is both principled and unchanging. According to him, the Azerbaijani side consistently opposes actions and rhetoric that could lead to the destabilization of the situation within or around Iran.
"During the telephone conversation, the parties exchanged views on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest," the ministry added.
