Baku reported intense fighting in the Karabakh conflict zone that continued overnight

29 September 2020

The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reported on Tuesday that intense fighting continued last night along the entire contact line in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone.

"On the night of September 28-29, intense fighting continued along the entire front line," the Defense Ministry said in a statement. It is noted that "in order to regain the lost positions", the Armenian armed forces made several attempts to counterattack in the Fizuli-Jabrayil and Agder-Tartar directions, which were suppressed by units of the Azerbaijani army.

According to the Defense Ministry, during the night fighting, a mixed column of armored vehicles and vehicles of the Armenian side, which was heading from the city of Madaghis to Agdere, and an artillery battery providing fire support for its movement were destroyed. In addition, according to the Defense Ministry, in the morning, units of the Azerbaijani army destroyed one tank and one enemy vehicle while trying to relocate in the Fizuli-Jabrayil direction. "Intense fighting continues. The enemy is forced to retreat, suffering heavy losses," the report says.
In addition, Baku called the Armenian side's earlier information about the downing of an Azerbaijani air force plane near the contact line disinformation.
