Bola Tinubu, the candidate of Nigeria's ruling All Progressives Congress party, has been declared the winner of the presidential elections held in the country on February 25. Naija News reported this on Wednesday, citing the Independent National Electoral Commission.
According to the results, Atiku Abubakar, the candidate of the People's Democratic Party and former Vice-President of Nigeria, finished second, and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) came in third.
Eighteen candidates competed for the presidency of Nigeria. Incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari was not among them.
On February 28, the opposition said that the presidential election was "completely compromised" and demanded a new vote and the resignation of the head of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
