The next summit of the Caspian littoral states will take place in August 2026 in Tehran, Iran’s ambassador to Turkmenistan, Ali Mojtaba Ruzbehani, announced at the “Caspian Sea — Sea of Peace and Friendship” conference.
“I am pleased to announce that the Islamic Republic of Iran will host the 7th Caspian Summit in August 2026,” he said. “We hope to welcome the presidents of the Caspian states to Tehran on International Caspian Sea Day and on the 20th anniversary of the Tehran Convention’s entry into force.”
Ruzbehani added that Iran also plans to host the first international meeting of governors from the Caspian Sea coastal provinces in 2025. The aim, he said, is to create a stable platform for dialogue, experience-sharing, and coordination among provincial leaders; to strengthen economic and regional diplomacy by leveraging provincial potential; to identify challenges, opportunities, and prospects for cross-border cooperation among neighboring provinces around the Caspian; and to advance joint projects in trade, industry, agriculture, environmental protection, and transport.
“Invitations and the meeting agenda will be sent to all Caspian countries in the near future,” the diplomat noted.
The applied research conference “Caspian Sea — Sea of Peace and Friendship” was held on the Caspian coast in Turkmenbashi, Turkmenistan, and timed to International Caspian Sea Day, marked annually on August 12.
