CSTO Head: Peak of Security Crisis in Organization's Area Has Passed

15 October 2025

The peak of the security crisis within the area of responsibility of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) has been overcome, demonstrating the organization's significant resilience potential. This assessment was provided by CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov in an article published in the National Defense journal.

He noted that the first half of the decade has been challenging both for the member states and for the CSTO's overall development, due to the escalating conflict potential worldwide.

“However, it appears that the peak of the security crisis in the CSTO's area of responsibility has largely passed,” Tasmagambetov stated. “Most states in the region recognize that the Collective Security Treaty Organization, which has demonstrated considerable resilience during this complex historical period of shifting global order, makes a substantial contribution to strengthening security and stability in Eurasia.”

The CSTO secretary general highlighted that despite the critical situation in the Middle East, ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan, and persistent threats from Afghanistan in the Central Asian direction, the collective efforts of member states are gradually managing to contain crisis situations.

“I am confident that in the emerging new world order, the CSTO will find its place and will worthily serve the goals of ensuring stability in Eurasia, in cooperation with other international organizations within the global security architecture,” he concluded.
