CSTO PA Council Adopts Statement on Middle East and Iran Escalation

The Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO PA) has adopted a formal statement regarding the escalating situation in the Middle East and surrounding the Islamic Republic of Iran. The announcement was published on the official website of the CSTO PA.


"The Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization has adopted a statement in connection with the worsening situation in the Middle East and around the Islamic Republic of Iran," the website noted.


According to the statement, such actions pose a serious threat to international peace and security. The document emphasizes the inadmissibility of the use of force or threats of force against sovereign states.


The CSTO PA Council called on all parties involved to exercise maximum restraint and resume dialogue to achieve a peaceful resolution of existing disputes. Furthermore, the parliamentarians expressed their solidarity with the government and the people of Iran.


"We consider the use of force unacceptable and call for the settlement of existing contradictions exclusively through peaceful means based on dialogue, mutual respect, and consideration of the interests of all parties, in accordance with generally recognized principles and norms of international law and the UN Charter," the text of the document reads.


The Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization includes representatives from the legislative bodies of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, and Tajikistan. The Chairman of the CSTO PA is Vyacheslav Volodin, the Chairman of the Russian State Duma.
