D-8 Summit in Jakarta Postponed Due to Middle East Conflict

13 March

The Developing Eight (D-8) Organization for Economic Cooperation forum, originally scheduled to take place in Jakarta, has been postponed indefinitely following the recent escalation of conflict in the Middle East.

According to Reuters, citing the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the summit was slated for April but will now be rescheduled to a later date.

The D-8 was established in 1997 in Istanbul at the initiative of then-Turkish Prime Minister Necmettin Erbakan. In addition to Indonesia, the organization’s members include Bangladesh, Egypt, Iran, Malaysia, Pakistan, Turkey, and Nigeria. Azerbaijan officially became the ninth member of the "Islamic Eight" in December 2024.
