Erdoğan States Turkey Has Reached Russia’s Level in Family Policy

18 February

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has highly praised the measures taken by the Russian leadership to support families, stating that Turkey has reached a comparable level in its own family policy.

"The issue of the family is not a simple matter that can be summarized in a few words. This is why we have highlighted it as a particularly important topic this year," Erdoğan told journalists from his press pool upon his return from an official visit to Ethiopia. "We have reached the same level that Russia is at now. Russia is currently taking very serious and significant steps in this regard. They are working to maintain population growth rates and preserve the family structure, while also developing policies that incentivize population growth."

The president noted that Saudi Arabia is also taking serious steps in this area. He expressed concern over demographic trends in Turkey, emphasizing that the country is experiencing a significant loss in population growth. "In our civilization, the family is the core of society, and we must not lose this core. Statistics show that we must be on high alert. As a government, we are in a state of increased readiness to protect both our population and the structure of the family," Erdoğan remarked.

He added that the authorities must take "very serious steps for protection and planning" within demographic policy, asserting that "it is impossible to compromise on this issue."
