The "Eurasian Agroexpress" project has included shipments via the North-South international transport corridor to Turkmenistan, Iran, the UAE and India, Minister of Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Andrey Slepnev announced.
"The joint project has included shipments via the North-South international transport corridor to Turkmenistan, Iran, the UAE and India. In addition, the goal is to increase regular exports to Asia, as well as to eliminate existing restrictive measures and optimization of customs and other administrative procedures during transportation," said Slepnev, as quoted by the press service of the EEC.
The working group on the implementation of a joint project of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) member states "Eurasian Agroexpress" updated the plan of activities. Now it includes monthly pilot shipments along the eastern branch of the North-South corridor involving Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. Also, the volume of direct rail shipments to China is being increased, and possible logistics hubs and tariffs in Uzbekistan are being studied.
In 2022 the volume of deliveries of agricultural products within the framework of the joint project, exceeded 500 thousand tons. Cancellation of anti-commodity restrictions by China and new routes will lead to growth of cargo flows within the project this year, Slepnev expects.
The "Eurasian Agroexpress" project is an accelerated containerized railway and multimodal deliveries of agricultural and food products of the EEU member states to domestic and foreign markets.
