GSV "Russia–Islamic World Strategic" Launches 2026 Grant Contest

16 February

The Foundation for the Promotion of Strategic Dialogue and Partnership has announced the start of its annual grant competition on behalf of the Group of Strategic Vision "Russia–Islamic World". Applications are currently being accepted through April 1, 2026, for projects aimed at strengthening the bonds between Russia and the Muslim world.

The grants are awarded on a non-reimbursable basis to initiatives that foster partnership and dialogue across two primary sectors: cultural-humanitarian and information technology. Eligibility is open to individual Russian citizens as well as non-profit organizations, including scientific, educational, religious, and public institutions that have been officially registered and active for at least one year.

A key requirement for all participants is the public disclosure of their project results. Applicants are limited to one submission per cycle, and organizations currently undergoing liquidation or reorganization are ineligible. Detailed regulations and application forms are available on the Group's official website, with inquiries directed to grantgsv@mail.ru.

"Our contest is a search for bold ideas and standout projects that create living bridges of cooperation. We are looking for initiatives that, through culture, education, and technology, can not only reveal shared values but also shape an objective and multifaceted image of Russia within the Islamic world," emphasized Marat Gatin, Deputy Chairman of the Group and Assistant to the Rais of Tatarstan.

Since 2023, the competition has received approximately 60 applications, with total funding exceeding 100 million rubles. Notable past recipients include a "Sacred Tourism in Tatarstan" research project that mapped religious heritage sites, a documentary series on the influential Rasulev theologians, and a youth media internship program titled "Dialogue of Cultures: Russia – Uzbekistan."

The Group of Strategic Vision "Russia–Islamic World" was established in 2006 under the initiative of President Vladimir Putin. It was originally co-chaired by former Prime Minister Evgeny Primakov and the first President of Tatarstan, Mintimer Shaimiev. Since 2014, the group has been led by the Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov.
