Indonesia has given preliminary approval to establish a Russian consulate general on the island of Bali, as reported to a TASS correspondent at the Russian Embassy in Jakarta.
The diplomatic mission confirmed, "An in-principle agreement has been obtained from the Indonesian side. The technical aspects are currently being worked out."
Currently, the only Russian representation in Bali is an honorary consulate.
The number of Russian tourists visiting Indonesia in 2023 has reached approximately 155,000, which represents a more than 20% increase compared to the 2019 figures of 125,000 before the onset of the coronavirus pandemic.
