Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping are both planning to attend the G20 summit in Bali in November this year, Indonesian President Joko Widodo said.
"Xi Jinping will come. President Putin has also told me he will come,” Widodo told Bloomberg. The Indonesian president also said there should be enough space for dialogue between the leaders of major countries.
The Chinese MFA did not respond to the agency's request to comment on the travel plans of the head of state. It is noted that Xi Jinping has not traveled outside the country since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020.
The Kremlin said earlier Thursday that Putin and Widodo discussed preparations for the G20 summit.
The G20 summit is to be held on the Indonesian island of Bali on November 15-16 in a face-to-face format. Earlier, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the decision on the format of Putin's participation in the event has not yet been made.
