Iran agreed to a pause in negotiations over nuclear deal in Vienna

The Iranian side agrees with the need to take a pause in the negotiations to restore the nuclear deal in Vienna. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh wrote this on Twitter on Friday.

"A pause in the negotiations in Vienna could be the impetus for resolving all remaining issues ahead of a final return," he said. The diplomat added that "all [parties] will focus on a successful conclusion of the negotiations." "No external factor will affect our common intention to move toward an agreement," he said.

Earlier Friday, European diplomatic chief Josep Borrell tweeted about the need for a break in the negotiations on the nuclear deal in Vienna. According to him, the measure is necessary because of external factors.

On February 8, the eighth round of talks resumed in Vienna after a break in order to restore the nuclear deal to its original form and return the U.S. to this multilateral agreement. The work is being carried out both within the framework of the Joint Commission between Iran and Russia, Britain, Germany, China, and France and in the format of separate consultations with the United States without the participation of Tehran, which is not yet ready for a direct dialogue with the US side. The negotiators have already agreed to speed up the process of working on the draft agreement. It is expected that the eighth round could be the last.
