The United States is not seeking a lasting and mutually beneficial agreement with Iran, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani said on Thursday.
"The US approach to Iran's principled proposals, making unacceptable proposals and making false excuses show that the United States has no desire to reach a lasting and mutually acceptable agreement," Fars news agency quoted Shamkhani as saying. - Negotiations in Vienna are becoming more difficult by the hour due to the lack of a political solution on the part of the US".
Shamkhani previously warned that the current US administration should learn from its predecessor's experience and not miss the chance to strike a good deal from the Vienna talks to lift sanctions on Iran and revive the 2015 nuclear deal.
The eighth round of Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) talks is underway in Vienna to restore the JCPOA to its original form and bring the U.S. back into the multilateral agreement. The work is taking place through consultations between the Joint Commission of Iran and the Five (Russia, Britain, Germany, China, and France), separate consultations with the US without the Islamic Republic's participation, and in the format of three working groups.
