Iranian Ambassador Warns of Potential Stability Risks to Central Asia

12 March

A possible destabilization of Iran following the recent strikes by the US and Israel could lead to extremists and terrorists from the Middle East infiltrating Central Asian nations, the Iranian Ambassador to Kazakhstan, Ali Akbar Joukar, said during a press conference.

"There is a potential danger for Central Asia; if widespread unrest and instability take hold within Iran, there is a risk that extremists and terrorists from the Middle East will infiltrate the region. However, thanks to the strength of the Iranian government — and as long as that authority remains in place — there will be no threat to Kazakhstan or the rest of Central Asia," the ambassador stated when asked about the risks facing Kazakhstan.
