Iran's Ambassador: Russia-Iran Alliance is a Response to Western Efforts to Spark Regional Crises

26 January

In an interview with the newspaper Kommersant, Iran’s Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali described the growing alliance between Tehran and Moscow as a deterrent against systematic Western attempts to ignite new conflict zones across Eurasia.

"In the face of this imposed disorder (an anarchy akin to the law of the jungle), strengthening the political and defense ties between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation is not merely a tactical choice, but a strategic necessity for ensuring national security and regional stability," Jalali stated. "The alliance between Tehran and Moscow is a legitimate and deterrent response to the West's systematic efforts to marginalize independent players and create crisis centers in Eurasia and West Asia."

The diplomat argued that the partnership aims to restore a balanced international order where conflicts are resolved through principled diplomacy and respect for national sovereignty rather than military threats.

Tehran remains convinced that sustainable security is only achievable through mutual respect for national security interests and spheres of influence. "At a time when unilateralism and extrajudicial interventions have replaced international law and threatened global stability, deepening strategic cooperation with the Russian Federation is seen as a purposeful effort to protect regional stability and counter anarchic and chaotic patterns of behavior," Jalali concluded.
