About 1.66 million Russian citizens have arrived in Kazakhstan this year, while 1.64 million people have left the country. This was announced on Friday by Acting Chairman of the Committee of Migration Service of Kazakhstan Aslan Atalykov.

"According to statistics, about 4.3 million foreigners have arrived and 4.1 million have left Kazakhstan this year, including 1,660,000 Russian Federation citizens who arrived and 1,640,000 who left. Their temporary stay is registered, with full information on each of them, their passport data and dates of entry in order to control their presence," Atalykov said, commenting on the possible increase in Russian citizens' arrival in Kazakhstan.

According to him, internal affairs bodies monitor foreigners' compliance with the established rules of stay. "During the control, 45.7 thousand violators of migration laws were brought to administrative responsibility, 4.2 thousand of them were immediately forcibly deported from Kazakhstan. At the same time, 3.2 thousand Russians were prosecuted for violations of migration laws, which is only 0.2% of the number of Russian citizens who entered the country. This demonstrates a certain discipline of compliance with the terms of stay in Kazakhstan," explained the head of the committee.

He reminded that the permitted visa-free stay in Kazakhstan for citizens of the Eurasian Economic Union ends after 90 calendar days from the border crossing. Registration of migrants is carried out by internal affairs bodies on the basis of information of receiving parties as well as data of the National Security Committee from the state border check points in a unified database of registration of entry and exit of foreigners.

Earlier, Maulen Ashimbayev, Chairman of the Senate (upper house of parliament) of Kazakhstan, told reporters that the republic authorities will not limit the entry of Russian citizens into the country, but they will be given a residence permit if they have the necessary documents.

Russian citizens do not need a visa to enter Kazakhstan. They can temporarily stay on the territory of the republic for up to 90 days.
