Kazakhstan’s President Directs Defence Minister to Strengthen Army’s Capability

Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has instructed Defence Minister Dauren Kosanov to take further steps to enhance the combat potential of the country’s armed forces, according to a statement from the president’s press service.

 

During their meeting, Defence Minister Kosanov presented a report on the ministry’s activities in the first half of 2025. He outlined progress on fulfilling the president’s earlier directives, which include increasing troop mobility, advancing air defense systems, developing territorial and drone units, upgrading military infrastructure, and executing state defense procurement.

 

The minister also briefed Tokayev on the army’s combat readiness, results of the recent spring conscription campaign, initiatives to improve military-patriotic education, and new social support measures for service personnel.

 

President Tokayev set a series of tasks for further strengthening the military’s capabilities. He also emphasized the importance of comprehensive efforts to ensure service safety and prevent accidents and injuries among military personnel.
