Russian and Turkish presidents Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan will hold talks in Sochi on Wednesday, September 29. The leaders will discuss trade and economic partnership, the situation in Syria, Libya, Afghanistan and Transcaucasia, the Kremlin press service reported.
"Russian president Vladimir Putin and president of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan will hold talks in Sochi on September 29," the statement said.
The Kremlin explained that "various aspects of the Russian-Turkish partnership in political, trade and economic areas" are to be discussed at the talks. "There will also be a detailed exchange of views on topical international issues, including developments in Syria, Libya, Afghanistan and Transcaucasia," the Russian leader's press service said.
Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov earlier told reporters that a broad agenda - from bilateral relations to Syria and other regional conflicts - may be touched upon during Erdogan's visit. For his part, Erdogan said in August that during his upcoming visit to Russia he intended to discuss, among other things, details of the purchase of the second regiment of S-400 air defense missile systems.
The last face-to-face meeting of the leaders took place in March 2020 in the Kremlin, when Erdogan also paid a working visit to Russia. Because of the pandemic situation, subsequent talks were held via telephone or video-conferencing, both bilaterally and multilaterally.
