Lavrov called advancing NATO infrastructure in Asia bid for longstanding confrontation

The Anglo-Saxon world, by creating bloc structures and promoting NATO military infrastructure in Asia, is making a serious bid for confrontation for years to come. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said this on Tuesday at the opening of the founding congress of the International Movement of Russophiles.

"The Anglo-Saxon world by creating bloc structures like AUKUS, by advancing NATO's military infrastructure into Asia makes a very serious bid for confrontation for many, many years to come. Because I don't see how the great Asian civilizations will simply 'snap a salute,' as, unfortunately, the European Union did, and obey the plans of Washington and other Anglo-Saxon colleagues," he pointed out.

"We are not trying to restrain anyone from pursuing legitimate interests. But when they declare the need to subordinate the whole world to the North Atlantic Alliance, and already Asia is the territory where it [the Alliance] should be in charge of everything, I do not think that the sense of justice, which is inherent in the Russian people and the vast majority of all world civilizations, should not have its say," Lavrov stressed.
