Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held a telephone conversation with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry in which he discussed the results of the April 4 negotiations of the Russian foreign minister with representatives of the ministerial contact group of the of the Arab League on Ukraine, the Russian foreign ministry said in a statement on Friday.
"In the course of the conversation, a detailed exchange of views on the results of the April 4 talks between Sergey Viktorovich Lavrov and the delegation of the ministerial contact group of the of the Arab League on Ukraine, also taking into account the results of this group's meeting with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba on April 5," the diplomatic office said.
In addition, the sides discussed a number of issues of further development of bilateral relations and expressed mutual interest in promoting business cooperation between the countries, noting the important role of the joint Russian-Egyptian commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation.
"The ministers spoke in favor of activating Russian-Egyptian ties in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, including in the context of the ongoing year of humanitarian cooperation between Russia and Egypt," the ministry added.
