Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with Malaysian Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan in Kuala Lumpur to discuss bilateral issues and prospects for advancing Russia’s strategic partnership with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). The talks took place on the sidelines of ASEAN ministerial events.
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the two ministers reviewed ways to implement the agreements reached during Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s official visit to Russia in May this year, as well as current bilateral and international issues.
Particular attention was given to regional developments and the future of Russia’s strategic partnership with ASEAN, which Malaysia is chairing this year, the ministry said in a statement.
