Russia intends to deepen its cooperation with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in efforts to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced in a congratulatory telegram to OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha, marking the organization’s anniversary.
"There is already constructive cooperation between the Russian Federation and the OIC in addressing pressing international issues," Lavrov stated. He further emphasized Russia's readiness to "strengthen mutually beneficial partnerships in the interests of promoting a more just world order, resolving the Israeli-Palestinian crisis and other conflicts, advancing intercultural and inter-civilizational dialogue, protecting traditional spiritual and moral values, and combating discrimination and persecution based on religion."
The statement came on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the establishment of the OIC, which was founded on September 25, 1969. The organization, previously known as the Organization of the Islamic Conference, consists of 57 member states, with five observer nations, including Russia.
