Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will hold talks with Foreign Minister of Tajikistan Sirodjiddin Mukhriddin on September 5, who will visit Russia. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said this at a briefing on Wednesday.
"On September 5, the minister of foreign affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan will pay an official visit to our country. His talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov have been planned. The meeting will take place on the eve of Tajikistan's national holiday - Independence Day. I remind you that it is celebrated on September 9," the diplomat said.
According to Zakharova, the focus of the talks will be on trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, defense, security, migration policy, training, joint measures in biosecurity, including epidemiological challenges and information security.
The diplomat stressed that the ministers will discuss the implementation of agreements reached during the recent contacts between the presidents of Russia and Tajikistan. "There will be an exchange of views on topical regional and international issues, including the situation in Afghanistan. During the visit, it is planned to sign a program of cooperation between the foreign ministries of our countries for 2022-2023," Zakharova added.
