Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will take part in the 22nd annual session of the international Valdai Discussion Club, scheduled to be held in Sochi on September 30, according to the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.
“On September 30 in Sochi, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will join the XXII annual session of the international Valdai Discussion Club,” Zakharova announced at a briefing. Following tradition, the discussion will bring together leading Russian and foreign experts. During the session, Lavrov will assess the current global situation, explain Russia’s key foreign policy initiatives, and answer participants’ questions.
The international Valdai Discussion Club will hold its large annual meeting in Sochi from September 29 to October 2, with 140 participants expected from 42 countries. Organizers highlight that this flagship conference will unite experts from countries such as Algeria, Brazil, the United Kingdom, Venezuela, Germany, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Iran, China, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, the UAE, Pakistan, Russia, the USA, Uzbekistan, Ethiopia, and South Africa.
In addition to Lavrov, attendees are expected to include Deputy Head of the Russian Presidential Administration Maxim Oreshkin, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, and Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin.
Founded in September 2004, the Valdai Club brings together Russian and international experts specializing in political, economic, and cultural-humanitarian research. The club holds annual meetings and organizes regional conferences focusing on Asia, Africa, Central Asia, the Middle East, Russia-China relations, and others. It also hosts special sessions during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum and the Eastern Economic Forum.
