Mali's Interim President Assimi Goita has accepted Russian President Vladimir Putin's invitation to attend the second Russia-Africa summit in St. Petersburg. Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko said this on Wednesday at a meeting with Chairman of Mali's National Transitional Council Malik Diao.
"We know that President of Mali Assimi Goita has accepted the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin to attend the second Russia-Africa summit. We will be sincerely happy to see our Malian friends at this representative forum in St. Petersburg this July," Matviyenko said.
She added that Russia appreciates the desire of the president of Mali to personally participate in the summit.
The second Russia-Africa summit will be held July 27-28 in St. Petersburg. The first international conference was held in Moscow in 2019.
