Marat Gatin, Deputy Chairman of the Group of Strategic Vision (GSV) "Russia – Islamic World" and Assistant to the Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan, held a meeting in Moscow with Ahmed bin Nasser Al Thani, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Qatar to the Russian Federation.
During the discussions, Gatin provided a detailed overview of the Group’s primary missions, emphasizing its role as a vital bridge between Russia and the Islamic world. He noted that the organization oversees a wide range of high-impact initiatives, including investment forums, scientific conferences, cultural festivals, and public diplomacy projects. A significant portion of the Group's work focuses on interfaith dialogue and youth engagement.
The Group's activities are structured around three core pillars: investment and economics, social and cultural exchange, and humanitarian cooperation. Gatin explained that this multifaceted approach allows the Group to build stable partnerships and identify the most relevant areas for collaborative international projects.
A central topic of the meeting was the upcoming schedule of events to be held on the sidelines of the XVII International Economic Forum "Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum," which is scheduled for May 14–15, 2026, in Kazan. Gatin presented the ambassador with the program for the Group’s sessions and discussions.
"Qatar remains one of our most essential partners in the Islamic world," Marat Gatin emphasized. "During KazanForum, we intend to host substantial dialogues that will allow us to assess our current progress and chart new courses for cooperation. We look forward to active participation from Qatari representatives, which will undoubtedly strengthen the broader Russia-Islamic partnership."
The meeting concluded with both parties agreeing to intensify their joint efforts through the Group. The goal is to provide additional momentum to Russia-Qatar relations, specifically by delivering practical results in both investment and humanitarian fields.
