Marat Gatin Meets with ICESCO Director General in Morocco

Deputy Chairman of the Group of Strategic Vision "Russia–Islamic World" Marat Gatin, together with an aide to the Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan, met in Morocco with the Director General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), Dr. Salim AlMalik. The meeting focused on preparations for events marking Kazan’s designation as the Islamic World’s Capital of Culture in 2026.

During the meeting, Dr. Salim AlMalik reaffirmed ICESCO’s commitment to ensuring the success of this major cultural event. Marat Gatin and Timur Suleymanov presented the ICESCO Director General with the planned program of activities designed to highlight Kazan’s cultural, religious, and social achievements.

Dr. AlMalik expressed confidence that Kazan would become one of the most successful cultural capitals of the Islamic world, thanks to the wisdom of Tatarstan’s leadership, as well as the enthusiasm, extensive experience, and thorough preparations of all those involved.

Marat Gatin praised the strong relationship between ICESCO and the Republic of Tatarstan, emphasizing Russia’s desire to further expand cooperation, particularly in education, scientific research, and academic training, and to promote the values of dialogue and tolerance between cultures.
