Maria Zakharova Condemns Strike Near RT Journalists in Lebanon

19 March

The strike at the location where RT journalists were reporting in Lebanon cannot be called accidental, and Russia is waiting for a reaction from international organizations, emphasized the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova.

"Against the backdrop of the killing of two hundred journalists in Gaza, what happened today cannot be called accidental. Moreover, the missile did not hit an 'important strategic military target,' but rather the specific location where the reporting was taking place. We wish the RT journalists a speedy recovery. We are waiting for the reaction of international organizations," the diplomat wrote on her Telegram channel.

Earlier, RT reported that the channel's bureau chief in Lebanon, Steve Sweeney, and his camera crew's operator were injured in the south of the republic; they are conscious. On March 9, the Israeli army reported the start of a limited ground operation against the Shiite organization Hezbollah in southern Lebanon. On March 16, the Israeli army stated that it had begun "limited and targeted ground operations" being conducted against "key Hezbollah strongholds" and "aimed at strengthening the forward line of defense" for the Israeli side.
