The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) opened fire on a group of foreign diplomats visiting the Jenin refugee camp in the West Bank, according to Egyptian TV channel Al-Qahira Al-Ikhbariya. The delegation included representatives from several European and Arab diplomatic missions.
According to Palestinian news agency WAFA, the soldiers fired heavily at both the diplomatic group and the journalists accompanying them. The delegation included diplomats from over a dozen countries, including Russia, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, and the European Union.
The Palestinian Foreign Ministry condemned the incident, calling it a “flagrant violation of international law” and an “alarming escalation” in the West Bank. The ministry accused Israeli authorities of showing systematic disregard for international norms and the sovereignty of the State of Palestine.
