The Iranian Tax Authority has approved a resolution to exempt individuals and legal entities from taxation for importing foreign currency, including cash and remittances, Tasnim news agency reported on Friday.

According to the tax service circular, any individual or legal entity can bring any amount of currency into the country by declaring the currency at the customs office upon entry. The decree requires the central bank, the ministry of economy and finance, the police and other relevant institutions to take measures to facilitate imports of foreign currency.

The decree comes into effect on the date of notification and is valid until October 2023.
