A new reconnaissance drone has been unveiled in Iran as part of the Sacred Defense Week taking place there. According to the Tasnim news agency on Wednesday, the Shahab combat drone has an altitude ceiling of over 3,000 meters, is capable of staying in the air for up to eight consecutive hours and conducting missions within 200 km range.
The Sacred Defense Week began on September 22 and commemorates the anniversary of the Iran-Iraq armed conflict that broke out in 1980. Traditionally, during these days, events to demonstrate the military capabilities of the country are held in Iran. In addition, representatives of the army report on the implementation of defense projects and on the latest achievements of the national military-industrial complex.
On September 8, the Commander of the Iranian Air Force Brigadier General Hamid Vahedi stated that Iran has reached 100% self-sufficiency in supplying its Armed Forces with combat drones.
Iran has been developing its own missile program since the 1990s. In addition, the country has made significant progress in developing unmanned aerial vehicles.
