Media: Israel May Strike Iran's Nuclear Facilities in 2025

13 February

US intelligence agencies have concluded that Israel is considering large-scale strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities this year, aiming to take advantage of Tehran's weakened state, The Wall Street Journal reports, citing unnamed sources.

This assessment was part of an analytical report prepared in the final days of former US President Joe Biden's administration. The document highlights the risks of escalating military activity in the region following Iran's diminished capabilities throughout 2024. According to two sources familiar with the intelligence, Israel is seeking support from Donald Trump’s administration for such strikes, believing Trump to be more likely to endorse the operation compared to his predecessor, Joe Biden.

Israeli officials reportedly fear that the window to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons is closing. A second report echoing these conclusions was passed on during the early days of Trump’s administration, according to an American official. Military experts believe that Israel would require US support, including munitions and technical assistance, to successfully strike Iran's heavily fortified nuclear sites.
