Malaysia’s Supreme Ruler, King Ibrahim, will pay a state visit to Russia in August, The Star newspaper reported.
According to the publication, a briefing by the royal protocol service on the upcoming visit was held at Istana Negara — the official royal residence in Kuala Lumpur. Russian Ambassador to Malaysia Nail Latypov attended the event.
Malaysia is a federal elective monarchy. The supreme ruler — the king — is elected for a five-year term by the governments of the nine constituent states. Since 2024, the position has been held by Sultan of Johor Ibrahim ibni Iskandar.
