The United States has begun withdrawing personnel from key bases in the Middle East, Reuters reported, citing a US official.
The official said the decision was taken as a “precautionary measure” amid heightened tensions.
Earlier, Reuters cited diplomats as saying the United States had advised some troops at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar — the largest US military base in the region — to evacuate. According to the diplomats, personnel could partially leave the base by the evening of January 15.
