Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has arrived in Tajikistan for a two-day official visit.
On June 4, he is scheduled to meet with Tajikistan's President Emomali Rahmon. According to the Russian Cabinet’s press service, Mishustin will take part in the June 5 meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). The agenda includes key issues related to expanding cooperation among CIS member states in the areas of trade, the economy, and cultural and humanitarian affairs.
Several key documents are expected to be adopted following the talks, including:
a cooperation strategy for the light industry sector,
a plan to harmonize national air traffic management systems,
a public health cooperation concept,
and an agreement on collaboration in the development of heavy engineering industries.
Additional agreements adopted during the session will also be signed.
Russia–Tajikistan Relations
Diplomatic ties between Russia and Tajikistan were established on April 8, 1992. The bilateral relationship is underpinned by a comprehensive legal framework comprising over 200 intergovernmental and interagency agreements. The two nations maintain close contacts at the highest levels.
President Rahmon has already visited Russia twice in 2025 — once on an official visit and once to attend the celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Tajik Prime Minister Kokhir Rasulzoda visited Russia from April 23 to 27, 2025.
The 20th session of the Russia-Tajikistan Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation was held in Dushanbe on October 4, 2024.
Russia and Tajikistan also actively cooperate within regional and international organizations, including the CIS, CSTO, and SCO. The two countries coordinate their positions on major global and regional issues within platforms such as the United Nations, OSCE, and other multilateral institutions.
