On September 23, 2021, Moscow hosted talks between Farit Mukhametshin, Deputy chairman of the Group of Strategic Vision "Russia - Islamic World", Deputy chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, and a delegation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, headed by Suleiman Al-Gharbi, Head of the Islamic organizations division of the Public diplomacy department of the foreign ministry of Saudi Arabia, accompanied by a group of representatives of several ministries and the director-general of the World islamic league conference Naif Hashim Al-Sharif. Aide to the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Gazinur Bakirov and representatives of the GSV International relations department participated in the talks on the Russian side.
The meeting, which focused on organizing a GSV retreat session in Jeddah on November 24-25, 2021, was an important step in boosting international contacts within the "Russia - Islamic World" discussion platform.
Opening the meeting, Farit Mukhametshin congratulated the delegation of the KSA on the National Day of the Kingdom and expressed his gratitude for the willingness of the KSA leadership to host a retreat session of the Group in Jeddah.
The parties agreed that such an event would strengthen both the bilateral Russian-Saudi relations and the stable inter-ethnic and interfaith dialogue.
In the course of the talks the details of preparations for the next meeting of the Group were discussed in detail, in particular the topic was approved, the dates were confirmed and organizational issues were discussed.
The parties agreed to continue active interaction in all directions for the sake of effective bilateral cooperation and holding a visiting session of the Group of strategic vision "Russia-Islamic World".
