Nihat Zeybekci: Halal Is Also a Tool for Protecting Economic Interests

16 May

Nihat Zeybekci, Deputy Chairman of Turkey’s Justice and Development Party, spoke at the plenary session of the Group of Strategic Vision  “Russia – Islamic World” on the topic “The Experience of Russia and the Islamic World in Youth Policy: Common Challenges and Joint Actions.”

In his remarks, Mr. Zeybekci placed particular emphasis on the significance of the halal industry and its role in shaping the future. He also took a moment to commend Tatarstan’s achievements: “Every time I visit, I’m impressed by the ongoing development of both the city and the republic.”

“Halal is not just about preferences—it is a value system prescribed by Allah. It encompasses every aspect of life, from food to finance,” he noted. The halal market was valued at $2.3 trillion in 2023 and is projected to reach $7.4 trillion by 2032. Certification, he emphasized, is becoming increasingly critical for international trade.

“In the face of ruthless imperialist capitalism, halal standards are not only a matter of religion but also a vital instrument for safeguarding economic interests,” Zeybekci concluded.
