There is no threat to the security of the Russian embassy in Sudan amid the situation in the country, but the necessary measures have been taken, the diplomatic mission told TASS on Monday.
"In general, the situation in Sudan is under control and the capital is calm," they informed there. - "There is currently no threat to the security of the Russian embassy in Sudan. Nevertheless, we have taken the measures required in this situation".
Protests have been going on in the east of Sudan for over a week, and participants have blocked a number of vital facilities. At the forefront of the protests are the Bedja and Amudi people, who consider themselves the most affected by the 2020 peace agreement of the movements and tribes with the authorities of the country and who suffer from the economic and political marginalization of their regions.
They have already blocked highways and railroads linking the east to the capital, as well as the local air harbor. On Saturday they blocked the largest pipeline in Port Sudan. The activists threatened to escalate the situation if the authorities did not comply with their demands.
