Russian President Vladimir Putin has issued a decree relieving Oleg Vasnetsov of his duties as Russia's ambassador to Moldova. The decree was published on the official legal information portal.
In a separate decree, President Putin appointed Oleg Ozerov to the role. Prior to this, Ozerov led the secretariat of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum.
Born in 1958, Ozerov graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO), under the USSR Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has been in diplomatic service since 1981, holding various positions within the Russian Foreign Ministry, both domestically and internationally. From 2010 to 2017, he served as the ambassador to Saudi Arabia. From May 2020 until his current appointment, Ozerov acted as ambassador-at-large and headed the secretariat for the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum.
Vasnetsov had been leading Russia's diplomatic mission in Chisinau since 2018.
