The international airport in the capital of Kuwait temporarily suspended its work on Monday due to the dust flow into the country from neighboring Iraq. This was reported by Al Arabiya TV channel with reference to the Emirate's General Directorate of Civil Protection.
"The air navigation at Kuwait airport has been temporarily halted due to the sandstorm," the agency said in a statement. - "Flights will resume as soon as visibility improves."
Earlier, a dust front caused the closure of several airports in Iraq. Baghdad and Erbil have already resumed flights and the airports of Sulaymaniyah, Kerbala and Najaf are still closed. Even the day before Monday was declared a day off throughout the country.
Since April, Iraq has been hit by several sandstorms that have already resulted in the temporary closing of airports, causing many problems for ordinary residents, line ministries and utilities. Exactly one week ago, major airports and seaports in Iraq and Kuwait temporarily suspended their work due to bad weather. Thousands of Iraqis suffered from breathing problems, and in Syria, the storm killed at least ten people.
