The Pakistani authorities have decided to suspend their military operations against Afghanistan for the duration of the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr. The announcement was made by Attaullah Tarar, the Minister of Information and Broadcasting of the Islamic Republic.
"On its own initiative, as well as at the request of brotherly Islamic countries — the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the State of Qatar, and the Republic of Turkey— the Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan has decided to announce a temporary suspension of the ongoing Operation Ghazab Lil Haq against terrorists and their support infrastructure in Afghanistan," Tarar wrote on X.
The ceasefire is scheduled to take effect on the night between March 18 and March 19 and will remain in place until midnight between March 23 and March 24, local time.
