A plane with part of the Russian delegation and media from Moscow arrived late Monday evening in Tehran, where the summit of the Astana process guarantor countries (Russia, Iran, Turkey) on Syria will take place, a TASS correspondent reports.
Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to arrive in the Iranian capital right on the day of the summit, on Tuesday. On the sidelines of the event, the Russian leader will hold bilateral talks with Iranian and Turkish counterparts Ebrahim Raisi and Tayyip Erdogan, and will meet with Iranian spiritual leader Ali Khamenei.
Among the members of the Russian delegation, who arrived in Tehran on Monday evening, are Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak and Presidential Aide Maxim Oreshkin. Russian Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov earlier told reporters that Russian-Turkish consultations on boosting economic cooperation, including the transition to mutual settlements in national currencies, will be held in Tehran in the morning or middle of the day on July 19, even before Putin's visit begins. According to Ushakov, Novak and Oreshkin will meet with their Iranian counterparts on economic issues.
