Putin: Russia Aims to Deepen Ties with Indonesia Beyond Traditional Areas

19 June

Russian President Vladimir Putin said that while Moscow intends to maintain its longstanding areas of cooperation with Indonesia, it is also looking to expand into new sectors. He made the comments during a meeting with top global news agency leaders, hosted by TASS.

“We have warm and trusting relations with Indonesia that have developed over decades,” Putin noted. “Of course, we’ll continue supporting our traditional areas of partnership, but at the same time, we aim to broaden and diversify our cooperation.”

The Russian president acknowledged that current trade between the two countries falls short of its full potential. “Tomorrow, I’ll have an in-depth discussion with Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto. We plan to cover all key areas we consider important,” he said. “I don’t want to get ahead of the conversation, but we’ll spend several hours together and go over everything in detail.”
