Putin: Russia Deeply Concerned by Rising Tensions in the Middle East

20 June

Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed deep concern over the growing instability in the Middle East during talks with Prince Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, National Security Advisor to the King of Bahrain, held on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

“Our meeting is taking place amid escalating tensions in your region,” Putin remarked. “We are watching developments closely and with concern. I’m sure we’ll have a chance to discuss the situation in more detail.”

The president praised Bahrain’s commitment to strengthening ties with Russia, noting the significance of Prince Nasser’s visit despite the challenging regional backdrop. “Your presence here shows the importance Bahrain places on its relationship with Russia,” he said.

Prince Nasser plays a key role in shaping Bahrain’s response to the regional crisis. The recent escalation, triggered by Israeli strikes on Iranian territory, has disrupted air traffic and heightened volatility across the region. Bahrain’s decision to send a senior representative to SPIEF signals its intention to maintain close dialogue with Russia as a major global stakeholder.
