Putin Thanks Kyrgyz President for Supporting Russian Language Status

02 July

Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed gratitude to Kyrgyzstan for maintaining the special status of the Russian language, noting that it strengthens cooperation between the two countries, including in the economic sphere.

During a meeting at the Kremlin with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, Putin highlighted the importance of cultural and educational ties. “We place a strong emphasis on the humanitarian dimension of our partnership, particularly in education,” he said. “Currently, 204 Russian teachers work in 43 schools across Kyrgyzstan, and there are plans to expand the number of Russian-language schools.”

Putin specifically thanked Japarov for ensuring the Russian language holds official status in Kyrgyzstan. “This facilitates more effective collaboration across many areas, especially in the economy,” he emphasized.

He also praised the close and multifaceted relationship between Moscow and Bishkek, noting that “with such a broad agenda, there’s certainly plenty to discuss.” Concluding the meeting’s opening remarks, Putin said, “It’s a pleasure to welcome you and your delegation.”

Russian holds the status of an official language in Kyrgyzstan and serves as a key means of interethnic communication.
