On Monday, President Vladimir Putin will hold talks with Mali’s transitional president, Assimi Goïta. According to the Kremlin press service, the meeting will focus on trade and investment, among other issues.
“The agenda includes discussions on further development of Russian-Malian cooperation, particularly in the trade, economic, and investment spheres, as well as pressing issues on the regional and international agenda,” the Kremlin announced.
The most recent in-person meeting between Putin and Goïta took place during the Russia–Africa Summit in July 2023. The two leaders have also maintained contact by phone, with their latest call occurring in March last year.
