Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said he will not meet with US leader Joe Biden during his visit to the UN General Assembly in New York in September.
"I have answered in past meetings that I will not. And I'll say no again," he said Monday at a press conference when asked about a possible meeting. - "There is no point in our meeting - not for our people, not for our national interests."
Iranian government spokesman Ali Bahadori Jahromi said on August 2 that the Iranian president will travel to New York in September to attend the UN General Assembly, to be held September 20-26. Last year, Raisi said he would not come to New York because of the coronavirus situation and spoke at the event by video link. The Iranian delegation was led by Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian.
