Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Egypt's Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty have discussed plans for the upcoming Russia–Africa Partnership Forum ministerial conference, which will be held in Cairo on December 19–20.
According to a Russian Foreign Ministry statement, the two diplomats focused on preparing for the high-level meeting, which aims to deepen cooperation between Russia and African nations.
The ministers also reviewed current bilateral projects, stressing the importance of close coordination to strengthen trade and economic ties between Moscow and Cairo.
Their conversation touched on the situation in the Middle East, including Gaza and other Palestinian territories, as well as developments in Lebanon and Syria. At Abdelatty’s request, Lavrov also shared assessment of recent developments in the Ukraine conflict.
The call was initiated by the Egyptian side.
