Russian Foreign Minister's Special Representative for the Middle East Settlement Vladimir Safronkov and the Chinese Government's Special Envoy for the Middle East Zhai Jun confirmed the similarity of Moscow and Beijing's approaches on the topic of the Middle East settlement during a telephone conversation on Tuesday.
"The similarity of Russian and Chinese assessments of the current situation in the Palestinian-Israeli crisis zone was stated. The urgency of increasing international assistance for improving the humanitarian situation in the Palestinian territories was confirmed. In this context, the need for the creation of favorable conditions for the resumption of direct negotiations process between the sides, which will allow to avoid relapses of military confrontation and stabilize the regional situation as a whole," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
The sides agreed to continue tight coordination of efforts in the Middle East direction of foreign policy, Smolensk Square stressed.
